Students will ‘Push Beyond’ at UGDSB Empowerment Day May 8

Soccer star Christine Sinclair among special guests

GUELPH – Thousands of Upper Grand District School Board (UGDSB) students in Grades 5 to 8 will gather on May 8 for a powerful day of inspiration and excitement at this year’s Empowerment Day.

Empowerment Day was originally initiated and developed by two students from Drayton Heights Public School in 2014.

Elora Public School’s Students Create Change group has decided to continue this annual event, hosting world-renowned motivational speakers, presenters, and performers to share inspiring messages on topics relevant to students today.

This year’s event will take place at the Sleeman Centre in Guelph from 10am until 2pm.

“Everyone has mountains to climb and peaks to reach, and that’s why this year’s motto for Empowerment Day is ‘Push Beyond,’ officials state.

“Through this experience, the goal is to show students within the UGDSB that they can make a positive difference in their communities, and beyond.”
