Centre Wellington council spent a total of $182,135 on its council pay and expenses for 2008.
Councillors received a base salary, extra pay for extra meetings, and expenditures for conferences and mileage.
Mayor Joanne Ross-Zuj topped the list with a total of $33,612. That includes a salary of $24,747, an extra $4,645 for meetings, and $4,220 for conferences.
The other councillors, in order, are:
– $31,529, councillor Walt Visser, who also acts as mayor when Ross-Zuj is away, had a base salary of $18,148, meetings of $6,980, and convention costs of $6,400;
– $27,612, councillor Robert Foster, $16,498 in base pay, $5,125 for extra meetings, and $5,989 for conventions;
– $25,085, councillor Kirk McElwain, salary $16,498, meeting pay of $4,725; and convention costs of $3,862;
– $23,982, councillor Fred Morris, salary $16,498, meetings at $3,195, and convention expenses, $4,289;
– $20,245, councillor Ron Hallman, salary $16,498, $2,190 for meetings, and $1,157 in convention costs; and
– $20,066, councillor Shawn Watters, salary $16,498, meetings at $2,370, and convention expenses of $1,198.
The township also paid $2,940 for its committee of adjustment. The payments were:
– $660, Sandy Cleghorn;
– $600, Pierre Chauvin and Pat Drimmie; and
– $540 to Cor Bultena and John Gamble.
On the heritage committee, Kathy Baranski attended two conferences at a cost of $644.
Stan Flemming was paid $43 for mileage for the Victoria Park Seniors Centre.
The committees’ expenses including pay and conferences were $3,584.
