County councillors are willing to pay half of the township’s cost for improved traffic lights in Wellington North, but there is still a funding problem.
Roads committee chairman Rod Finnie presented a recommendation last month that the county pay 50% of the township’s share of the work.
But Wellington North Mayor Mike Broomhead explained there is a problem to date with the project. He said the “MTO is not coming to the table.”
Township officials believe the Ministry of Transportation is responsible for the majority of costs for the two traffic lights, which currently are not working.
Broomhead asked Finnie if Wellington North Road Superintendent Gary Williamson could attend the next committee meeting, and perhaps the two could begin further lobbying of MTO.
Finnie replied, “No problem.”
