The Fergus Truck Show and the Scottish Festival and Highland Games were named one of the Top 100 Ontario Festival 2009.
It was the fifth year in a row for the Truck Show and sixth time overall. It was the eighth year in a row for the Fergus Scottish Festival and Highland Games.
The announcement was at the Ontario Festivals and Events annual conference in Burlington March 4 to 7.
The Top 100 designation was once the Top 50. The best festivals are selected by festival organizers nominating themselves and meeting a set of criteria. Ontario is host to over 3,000 festivals and events in Ontario each year ranging from one-day street fairs to internationally renowned celebrations.
Fergus Truck Show Chief Operations Officer Wayne Billings said, “It is once again such an honour to receive this recognition.
“This … is the direct result of the devotion and dedication of so very many people – co-sponsors; event sponsors; sponsors; trade show and Show and Shine participants; truck pullers and the spectators.
The 24th annual show will be held July 23 to 26 at the Centre Wellington Sportsplex.
