The Wellington County OPP are again offering citizens an opportunity to learn more about policing through a PACT.
It stands for Police and Community Together, and consists of meetings once a week for eight weeks, starting on April 8.
OPP Constable Andy Clements said adults, seniors, and youths interested in becoming police officers are welcome to the sessions, which will run in the OPP headquarters boardroom in Palmerston this time.
Clements said PACT has been running for five years, and there are currently five police officers who attended PACT to learn more about a possible policing career.
“We’ve got more guys currently going through the process,” Clements added.
He said for this PACT, Constable Trevor McLeod will be on hand to explain various investigative techniques.
McLeod is with the OPP Ident Section, and is also an expert on such things as blood splatters and also crime scene investigations.
“He’s going to be fascinating,” Clements predicted.
Each PACT can handle a dozen citizens, and Clements added that word of mouth also attracts registrations.
He said he has five people already entered.
