Terry Kuipers has reviewed Minto’s site plan control bylaw with council members recently.
Minto’s Chief Building Inspector said any property that needs to be, or that management staff think should be under site plan control were done individually.
The site plan control bylaw covers the entire municipality and then exempts a number of property types, such as single family dwellings, some small commercial and industrial properties and agricultural lands.
“Basically, this is a catch all, so nothing slips through, he said. It gives us better control over the properties we feel we need better control over.”
Through the bylaw, the town can deal with landscaping issues, storm water management, grading, and the exterior of a building.
“It also covers residential developments of less than three units.”
While agricultural buildings are exempt, the bylaw would include agriculturally-rated commercial or industrial buildings over 6,000 square feet.
However he said if it is thought there are issues with specific sites, aspects of the bylaw can still be enacted.
Mayor David Anderson said in theory, this is a broad form to cover many issues.
