Getting older should not prohibit activity

Being a senior these days means being active, and having the time to do activities you enjoy.

Walking feels great; all that’s needed is a good pair of walking shoes, and maybe one of those dandy hiking sticks for a little added arm exercise.

Cycling, tennis, badminton, lawn bowling and gardening are popular activities, combining the benefits of movement and fresh air.

All that oxygen getting into your cells has to be a good thing.

Stretching exercises help seniors maintain that youthful look. Lunge stretches for the legs, and overhead reaching stretches for the arms enable seniors to keep their long stride and upright posture.

As with all activities, there is the occasional overuse or Sports injury, which may need to be treated to improve healing.

Physiotherapy includes low intensity laser therapy to speed up tissue repair, and a good stretching and strengthening  program to prevent re-injury.
