GUELPH – A Toronto man has been charged with luring and sexual assault after two Guelph teens reported he took them to a local hotel overnight.
On Feb. 1, two 13-year-old girls were reported missing to the Guelph Police Service.
The minors were located by officers and the Guelph Police Human Trafficking Unit began an investigation.
The parties had met through a social media platform, police stated in a Feb. 14 press release.
On Feb. 12, a 22-year-old Toronto man was arrested for two counts of luring, sexual assault, two counts of sexual interference and two counts of invitation to sexual touching.
The accused was held for a bail hearing on Feb. 13 and has been released on conditions.
He is to appear in Guelph court on March 18.
Partner violence
CENTRE WELLINGTON – Local police continue to lay intimate partner violence charges across the county.
On Feb. 10, at about 10:45pm, Wellington County OPP were dispatched to a report of disturbance at an address in Fergus.
A 66-year-old individual was charged with two counts of spousal assault.
The accused has been released from police custody and is to appear in Guelph court at a later date.
Driving charges
CENTRE WELLINGTON – Wellington County OPP has charged an Alma resident with five provincial offences.
On Feb. 10, at about 6:15pm, police were initiating traffic enforcement when a traffic complaint was reported involving a suspicious motor vehicle.
Officers located the vehicle and performed a traffic stop on Graham Street in Elora.
The 18-year-old Alma resident was charged with operating an unsafe vehicle, driving with no licence, using unauthorized plates, driving without insurance and failing to apply for a permit.
More driving charges
CENTRE WELLINGTON – A Cambridge driver is facing two charges and numerous warnings after a recent traffic stop here.
On Feb. 11, at about 10:30am, the Wellington County OPP initiated a traffic stop on a commercial motor vehicle on Wellington Road 7 in Elora.
The 22-year-old driver was charged with failure to accurately complete a daily inspection report and driving without a valid CVOR certificate.
