Centre Wellington resident Harry Panjer thinks people do not get enough local exposure to established and up-and-coming Canadian bands.
Panjer, of BCMH Productions, has announced the first Live At The Grand concert is on Feb. 21 at the Fergus Grand Theatre.
He said, "Showcasing hot new Canadian talent is our top priority. We want to create the opportunity to see top acts under ideal conditions without having to travel to Toronto. The Grand Theatre in Fergus with its proud history and excellent acoustics is a perfect venue for the type of concert we are determined to promote."
Panjer added, “We hope to develop a regular audience of music fans from this area.”
The first concert reflects the goal, with The Kramdens. Last November saw the release of the band’s fourth studio album. It was recorded at their home studio in Guelph over an 18-month period.
Anne Lederman will also perform that night.
In 2005, she represented Canada at the prestigious Viljandi Festival in Estonia, and has been a major performer in similar venues ever since.
Joining her will be her friends, Hawp, a group that combines the planning and design of a theatre show with the easy-going and genuine nature of any good Celtic band.
ApollosDown will also be a part of the promoters’ first show.
Tickets are $20 and on sale at: Fergus Grand Theatre box office; The Bookshelf, Guelph; The General Store, Elora.
