River Run Centre is presenting Ian Thomas on Feb. 13 at 8pm.
The show is a rare solo performance by the legendary Juno award winner is part of the Centre’s Blackmont Capital Music Series.
Thomas first hit international fame in 1973 with the hit song Painted Ladies. Since then, he has made 15 albums and as many top-20 records.
In addition to his Juno, Thomas has been awarded with three SOCAN classic awards and a UNICEF Danny Kaye Humanitarian Award.
Thomas’ solo performance will span over 35 years of music making.
Alongside his solo career and other creative pursuits, Thomas has been recording and touring with the band Lunch at Allen’s since 2004. Many area residents had the chance to see that foursome of friends – Ian Thomas, Murray McLauchlan, Marc Jordan, and Cindy Church – when they performed at River Run in January 2007.
Thomas likes to call himself “an anti-star,” and lives quietly with his wife in the rural town of Winona, outside of Hamilton. He said, “I’m still in business, still creative. I’ve been fortunate that I’ve been allowed to do what I want to do.”
In addition to his prolific musical career, Thomas is the author of two novels: Bequest (2006) and The Lost Chord (2008).
Tickets are on sale now through the River Run Centre box office. Adult tickets range from $22.50 to $32.50, with discounts available for students and seniors. As part of the eyeGO program, high school students may purchase tickets at the box office for only $5 each the day of the show.
