Red-haired Anne Shirley is coming to town for the first time in the Elora Community Theatre production of Anne of Green Gables at the Fergus Grand Theatre.
The play is ECT’s second production of the season.
The dramatization of the Lucy Maud Montgomery book, which recently celebrated its 100th anniversary of publication, has a cast of over 40. The story follows 11-year-old Shirley and her search for friendship, love, acceptance, and a home in the rural Prince Edward Island community of Avonlea.
Zoe Dunbar takes on the role of Anne, with her mother, Sara, and brother, Morgan, also having roles.
The Forsyth and Mitchell families have generational actors sharing the stage, and returning to Fergus is an area favourite, Gerry Butts, who is tackling the part of Matthew Cuthbert.
The dates for the performance are Feb. 6 and 7 at 8pm, Feb. 8 at 2pm, Feb. 12, 13, and 14, at 8 pm.
