Open audition call is set for Jan. 17

On Jan. 17, Grinder Productions will be conducting its biggest open audition ever.

The company is looking for kids, teens, and adults.

There are so many roles to fill that Grinder’s Executive Director Eric Goudie is guaranteeing everyone who auditions will get at least one offer of a role on stage between now and June of this year.

Auditions are open to current members of Grinder and to newcomers.  Auditions for the company happen once a year.

The auditions will be informal in nature, and will consist of cold reads from selected scripts. There will also be some simple theatre games, and maybe an improvisation or two.

For actors who are looking for a greater challenge, the company will also be auditioning for the Hopeless Romantics touring shows.  Hopeless Romantics is a semi-professional arm of the company, and performers will be paid a small honourarium for each performance, so more will be expected from anyone auditioning for those shows.

Participants must be at least 16, and have ready a one- to two-minute monologue, preferably comedic and contemporary in nature.

Musical theatre actors will be given the chance to sing and or dance, so they should bring audition music on CD.

Everyone who auditions will be asked to fill out an audition form and pose for a quick picture. The more clearly Goudie can know when performers are available the better the chances of those involved.

Everyone is welcome.  No experience is necessary to be a part of Grinder Productions. To reserve an audition time, call Goudie at 519-780-7593, email grinder@grinderproductions.org.
