Simple Harmonic Motion opens at Harriston gallery on Jan. 9

Minto Arts Council begins the new year at the Harriston-Minto Heritage Gallery with an art exhibition featuring Neustadt artist Laurie-Lynn Percy.

Simple Harmonic Motion runs from Jan. 9 to Feb. 23 with the official opening Jan. 9 from 7 to 9pm. All are welcome.

Percy’s paintings reflect the natural world and her passion for capturing the beauty of nature. Her study of natural waves and the unique patterns created in sand, snow, water and rock are captured in her artwork.

The display is also the scientific term for the process by which the transfer of energy through a wave results in an expression of energy on another form.

She stated, “Inspiration to paint is largely based on the physical interaction I have with nature and the profound feelings created by an ever moving, fantastical shift in the power between solid, liquid and gas.

“The compositions I choose are based on a careful construction of detail so that each painting takes the viewer away from the big picture of a landscape and focuses in on the delicate and intricate patterns found in our environment.”

The Harriston-Minto Heritage Gallery is located on the upper level of the Harriston Public Library on the corner of Elora and Mill Street. Admission is free.

Gallery hours are: Tuesday 7 to 9 pm, Thursday and Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm, Saturday 11am to 1pm. For more information phone 519-338-3756.
