CENTRE WELLINGTON – Five local dancers from the Fergus Elora Academy of Dance will be traveling to Disney’s Magic Kingdom in Florida on Dec. 12 to perform as part of the Dance the World event.
“The dancers are looking forward to the overall experience and cannot wait to try on their costumes and their ruby red shoes to make the experience complete,” said Erica Finlayson-Marak, owner of the Fergus Elora Dance Academy.
Dancers Thea Bachuk, Ellie Hurst, Jada Keane, Ava Tod and Addison Vandersluis are the lucky five making the trip.
“Our studio has participated in two other Dance the World events over the past 10 years,” said Finlayson-Marak.
“The first time in Disney in 2015 and the second time in Times Square in New York in 2019.
“Both events provided an amazing experience and opportunity for our Dancers and allowed them to create memories that will last for a lifetime.”
All of the girls have been dancing for eight to 12 years and have been rehearsing the choreography for the event since September.
“The entire process and preparation, start to finish, has taken around 18 months,” Finlayson-Marak told the Advertiser.
“A huge thank you to Miss Catie Johnston our fabulous instructor and her mom Lara Johnston, who have been an incredible help with preparation and trip organization.
“We would not have been able to do this without them.”
The girls will be dancing with other dancers from around the world, with all dancers having learned the same choreography.
The performance will be held at the Magic Kingdom in Disney along the main street and around Cinderella’s castle.
“We are beyond thrilled to be attending our third event with the added excitement of it being at Christmas time,” said Finlayson-Marak.
