CLIFFORD – Santa Claus will be flying his sleigh all the way to Clifford to greet the residents before Christmas arrives.
The Clifford Santa Claus parade will be returning on Nov. 30 and beginning at 7pm for another year of holiday cheer.
The parade line-up is set to begin at 2 Brown St. S. at 6pm near the Clifford and Community Arena.
On arrival participants will be assigned a location in the parade line.
“There’s no pre-registration required and folks can just meet at the arena,” Minto Fire Department deputy fire chief Callise Loos told the Advertiser.
Floats will travel down portions of Brown Street, James Street, William Street, Elora Street and Nelson Street.
Prizes will be handed out to the best-looking float at the end of the parade, with a $100 prize and a $50 prize on the line.
Loos is hoping for 20 floats or more to entertain the Clifford community.
“Normally the streets are full … it all depends if it’s nice out,” noted Loos.
Guests should expect around 500 to 750 people attending the outdoor event.
The parade is set to be half an hour to 40 minutes long and will end at the Clifford Fire Hall.
“Fire fighters are collecting food bank donations along the parade route,” noted Loos. “People can bring canned food donations to support the Clifford food bank that would be appreciated.”
Fire hall fun
After the parade “residents are encouraged to visit with Santa and the firefighters at the Clifford fire hall for photos, hot dogs and hot chocolate,” she said.
Treat bags will be given to children after their visit with Santa by the fire department.
The fire department does all three Christmas parades for Minto “so it’s always an exciting time of the year,” she added.
“It’s nice to connect with the community,” stated Loos hoping to see everybody attend the festive fun.
