FERGUS – Kick off the Christmas concert season with Centre Wellington Singers.
The not-for-profit all voice community choir – now in its 28th year – is bringing its Christmas musical celebration back to Melville United Church in Fergus.
This year’s special guests include two choirs from The Guelph Youth Singers led by Emily Petrenko.
With “it’s the most wonderful time of the year” as its theme, the repertoire is a joyful blend of Christmas songs old and new, including the popular carol sing-a-long with the audience.
Young or young at heart, this is where your Christmas Spirit begins!
“It’s a fabulous opportunity to combine our community’s musical talents which span the generations – all in the spirit of Christmas,” said CWS president Lillian Gohn.
“We’re so thankful that we have enough support that we can continue at our larger venue again this year. For many in our community, our Christmas concert has become an annual tradition, and we are so grateful.”
The concert takes place on Nov. 30 at 3pm at Melville United Church, 300 St. Andrew S. W. in Fergus.
Once the music stops, the fun continues as the audience can mingle with the musicians over tea and treats in the church’s fellowship hall.
Tickets are $20 for adults; children 12 and under are $5.
Tickets are available from choir members, Magic Pebble Books in Elora, Fergus Scottish Corner Shop in Fergus or call 519 843 5419, or email centrewellingtonsingers@gmail.com.
Limited tickets will be available at the door.

Centre Wellington Singers is directed by Jurgen Petrenko, a talented organist, pianist, former executive producer for the CBC, founding-director of the 100-voice Toronto Classical Singers (now in its 32nd year), and most recently, recipient of The Order of Niagara.
It promises to be a magical, musical afternoon not to be missed, organizers say.
The choir also takes part in community outreach and events including performances at local retirement residences.
You can also catch them carolling at the Fergus Christmas Tree Lighting on Dec. 6.
