Even though councillors here have cancelled a meeting in August, it is only to make way for other work.
On July 8, council approved the cancellation of it’s Aug.26 council session. The decision was made with little fanfare.
Moments later, council was considering approval of an accountability and transparency training and information session to be presented by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs – on Aug. 26. Mayor David Anderson said he had refrained from commenting on the meeting cancellation because he knew about the workshop.
“For a moment, I thought we were having a day off,” Deputy-mayor Judy Dirksen said with a laugh.
