Ecclestone partnership inspired by toy trucks

CENTRE WELLINGTON – When the playground at Victoria Park in Fergus reopens, it will have a new name thanks to a partnership between the township and a local business.

And it was all inspired by the toy trucks someone anonymously donated to the sandbox there.

Ecclestone Financial Group (EFG) recently signed a naming rights agreement with the township worth $150,000 over 10 years.

The park will be named the Ecclestone Financial Group Playground.

“Giving back to the community that has supported Ecclestone Financial Group for 35 years is truly a joy,” states EFG president Ted Ecclestone in a press release.

“We approached the township about this park, inspired by the community’s heartfelt desire to bring people together evident in the toy trucks generously and anonymously donated to the park.

“These trucks will continue to be valued additions to the new sandbox at the park.”

Mayor Shawn Watters applauded EFG for their sense of community.

“This partnership enhances our local playground and strengthens our commitment to providing quality recreational spaces for our residents,” Watters stated in a press release.

“We are grateful to Ecclestone Financial Group for their generous support and dedication to our community.”

A formal ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place in the spring of 2025.

Community partnerships are vital for the township as they enable shared resources, knowledge and funding, officials stated.

Collaborating with local businesses and organizations fosters a sense of community ownership and encourages active participation, they added.
