New curator on the job at county museum

Councillor Rob Black, chair of the county’s information heritage and seniors committee, introduced Sandu Sindile as a the new curator for the Wellington County Museum and Archives at the March 30 county council meeting.

Sindile replaces Susan Dunlop, who retired in March after 25 years of dedicated service.

“Sandu has worked in arts and culture for 23 years,” said Janice Hindley, administrator for Wellington Place.

“He has spent a great part of his career working in museums and art galleries, in both Europe and Canada. We’re excited to have Sandu on our team.”

Sindile has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Shipbuilding and a Masters in Museum Studies and Conservation from the University of Galati in Romania. His past work experience includes: Curator at the Homer Watson House and Gallery in Kitchener, Curatorial Assistant with Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery in Waterloo, and most recently, the Collections and Exhibitions Manager with Dundas Museum and Archives in Dundas.

“I look forward to continuing the amazing work at the Wellington County Museum and Archives,” commented Sindile. “This historic museum is a national treasure and I am honoured to join this team of talented individuals.”
