ERIN – In a move town officials say will enhance the town’s transportation infrastructure and strategically prepare for future growth, Erin has hired 30 Forensic Engineering (30FE) to develop its first-ever Transportation Master Plan (TMP).
This plan will serve as a strategic policy document, providing a roadmap for transportation investments until 2055, officials say.
“This initiative will support economic development, boost tourism, and promote sustainable transportation practices, all while adapting to the needs of an evolving shared economy,” states a town press release.
“The TMP will be developed in alignment with the Provincial Environmental Assessment (EA) Act, specifically following approach 1 as outlined in the 2023 Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA). “
This phased approach will first assess problems and opportunities, followed by exploring alternative solutions, ultimately facilitating streamlined implementation of recommended capital road works, officials say.
Residents, stakeholders and agency partners are encouraged to share their insights on the current transportation system and future opportunities throughout the study.
The project team will host two public information centres (PIC) to gather feedback and present study findings. The first PIC is anticipated to take place in January.
Also, TMP updates will be provided on Erin’s new public engagement website, erinengaged.erin.ca.
The town is committed to ensuring the TMP reflects the community’s needs and aspirations, officials say.
