Trick-or-treaters shot with pellets on Halloween night

GUELPH – Police here are investigating after several reports of Halloween trick-or-treaters being shot with pellets in the east end of the city on Halloween night.

At about 8:15pm on Oct. 31, officers were dispatched to Morningcrest Park on Severn Drive, where a mother reported her 12-year-old daughter and a friend were shot with plastic pellets from an Airsoft gun.

“Another mother approached officers and said her six-year-old son and some friends were in the park when a group of males approached and asked if they had any candy before shooting them several times,” stated a Guelph Police press release.

“Officers spoke to several others who provided similar accounts. All victims said they were struck numerous times in the torso, neck and arms but none required medical attention.”

Police say they are interested in speaking to about 10 males who were all wearing gorilla costumes except one, who was wearing a ghillie suit.
