Police beat: Thieves steal $2,400 worth of baby formula

FERGUS – At 12pm on Oct. 6, three suspects stole $2,453 worth of baby formula from a business on Tower Street South.

“There were three females involved who upon exiting the store got into a 2008 brown Ford Escape,” Crime Stoppers officials stated

“Two of the three suspects have not been identified. Suspect one is described as female, light skinned with red hair, wearing dark clothing. Suspect two is described as female, white, with blonde hair and also wearing dark clothing.”

Partner violence

WELLINGTON COUNTY – Local police continue to lay intimate partner violence charges across the county.

Those arrested include:

– a 39-year-old woman from Fergus, who was charged with assault in relation to an incident in Fergus on Oct. 21;

– 29-year-old woman from Kitchener, charged with assault and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, in an incident in Puslinch on Oct. 25; and

– 39-year-old woman from Mount Forest, charged with assault and assault with a weapon, in an Oct. 27 incident in Mount Forest.

The accused individuals are to appear in Guelph court at a later date.

Tragic long weekend

ORILLIA – Seven vehicle occupants, a pedestrian and three off-road vehicle riders were killed in OPP jurisdictions over the Thanksgiving long weekend.      

During the OPP’s Operation Impact campaign, Oct. 11 to 14, officers laid:

– 4,902 speeding charges and 133 stunt/racing charges;

– 388 seatbelt law violation chanrges;

– 85 fines for distracted driving; and

– in total, 8,870 traffic-related charges. 

“The motoring public is reminded that complying with all traffic laws can go a long way towards preventing collisions, injuries and fatalities on and off the road,” police stated in a press release.
