GUELPH – The Friends of the Guelph Public Library extends heartfelt gratitude to all who made their 16th annual book sale fundraiser an overwhelming success.
Over four days last month, the community came together to raise more than $95,000 that will benefit the Guelph Public Library.
“This year’s sale saw more than 5,000 shoppers who purchased 55,000 items from our well curated assortment that included books for all ages, puzzles, games, DVDs and antiquarian books,” officials state.
This event could not have happened without the dedication and hard work of more than 250 volunteers, who spent countless hours planning, sorting, organizing, and working together to create a welcoming atmosphere for book lovers from Guelph and the greater surrounding area. Their commitment to supporting this fundraising effort and enriching the community is “deeply appreciated.”
The Friends would also like to thank everyone who attended the sale.
The enthusiasm for books is evident, and the atmosphere that is generated is the envy of other events.
This year the Bamco Group stepped up at the 11th hour to rescue this year’s sale from likely cancellation.
Looking ahead to next year, we are hopeful that we can provide another fantastic sale.
The Friends are always looking for the perfect large space for this event.
Those who know of a large site that may be available (preferably 15,000 square feet or more) or would like to be involved in organizing this event, please contact us at info@fgpl.ca.
“Thank you once again for making this year’s book sale a remarkable success, and for your continued support over our previous sales,” officials added.
