Centre Wellington representatives meet with MOECC regarding long term water supply

Local officials met with officials from the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change on Sept. 29 at Queen’s Park to look at the future of water in Centre Wellington.

On Sept. 28, Mayor Kelly Linton updated councillors on  the meeting which would look at long-term water supply protection, the Nestle Waters’ 30-day well pumping application and a future potential water taking application.

“We have a half hour set aside … which is great,” said Linton.

He commented that if the meeting had happened during the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) conference it would have been limited to 15 minutes.

Linton thanked community groups for providing documentation and questions built into the presentation, noting, “We have passionate people in our community … and that is an asset to us.”

Linton also appreciated councillors providing points for the speaking notes.

“We’ll make sure we get back to people as to what came out of that meeting, and what the next steps will be,” Linton added.

He noted Wellington-Halton Hills MPP Ted Arnott will also be at the meeting.
