The Centre Wellington Singers will offer a musical tribute to the Christmas season on Nov. 30 at 3:30pm.
The concert, Songs of Hope and Promise, will be held in Melville United Church.
Director Louise Elder and accompanist Betty Weinstein have selected songs that express the joy of living and celebrating at this time of year. There will be accompanying drumming and hand clapping to catch the buoyancy and the feeling of hope expressed by the spirituals, and organ and piano accompaniment to express the more traditional choral music of adoration and promise.
Everyone will be able to join a sing-a-long.
The Centre Wellington Singers have been presenting concerts twice a year for the past 12 years. They have also participated in other functions such as the Centre Wellington awards night, and the cancer society, Run for Life. Again this year, in addition to the formal concert of Nov. 30, the Singers will be performing at Wellington Terrace, Highland Manor, and Heritage River.
As this choral group has become better known and obtained better performers, demand for tickets has increased.
The choir hopes to solve this problem for the Christmas concert by performing at a venue that can seat many more people.
Tickets for Songs of Hope and Promise are available through choir members, or can be reserved at 519-843-5419. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. Melville United Church, Fergus, is wheelchair accessible. Refreshments will be served after the concert.
