Police are continuing their search for the driver who struck and killed 18-year-old Lucas Frederick Shortreed, of Fergus.
Shortreed was located lying lifeless on County Road 17 a couple kilometres east of Alma around 12:09am on Oct. 11.
OPP Constable Mark Cloes said members of the county Criminal Investigation Unit are conducting a parallel investigation to the Technical Collision Investigators and the county OPP Traffic Unit.
And, he added, detachment commander Steve Walsh remains steadfast in his statement, “We are committed to finding the person responsible for this fatal collision and I have some of my best investigators working this case.
“I’m confident that someone somewhere has information that would help us find this suspect and I encourage them to do the right thing and come forward immediately.”
Cloes said investigators have determined the suspect vehicle is an older model white 1995 to 1997 Dodge Neon.
The vehicle will have damage to the passenger front corner and side. The passenger side window will likely be smashed out as well.
“Think of the cars in your neighbourhood,” Cloes said. “Maybe someone at work or a neighbour has a car like this that now has some damage – or just flatly, the car has disappeared or been hidden away. I encourage you to call in with this information.
“I know that if you were part of this family, you would like some closure to this issue as well.”
Police are asking anyone with information to contact the county OPP Traffic Management Unit at 519-856-1506 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
