On Nov. 15 at Stone Road Mall, Habitat for Humanity, Wellington County, will launch a new fundraiser.
Three children’s playhouses, built by local businesses, and donated to Habitat for Humanity, will be raffled to raise funds for Habitat building projects in Guelph and Wellington County.
The raffle was made possible through the support of builders and sponsors: The Guelph Chamber of Commerce; Fabbian Homes Inc. with The ReStore; and Habitat for Humanity Guelph campus chapter with the Stampede Ranch.
The playhouses, measuring 8-by 8-feet by 10-feet, and are valued at approximately $5,000 each. They will be on display in the mall throughout the holiday season. Tickets are $4 each and will be available until Dec. 31, with the draw date set for Jan. 3. Habitat volunteers will sell tickets in the mall daily or they can be purchased at the ReStore; 45 Dawson Rd, Guelph. When no longer needed as a playhouse for the kids, the playhouses can be used as a storage shed.
The raffle is one of the many fundraising projects that Habitat for Humanity runs in order to finance its home building program. The goal for this project is to raise $50,000 for current and coming builds. Since 2001 Habitat for Humanity has built nine homes and has two homes under construction in Guelph (18 Harris Street and 24 Alma Street North).
