Although Wellington County’s rural broadband project has the support of Minto council, it is not quite as clear when it might actually happen.
As council recently reviewed the matter from a previous meeting, Mayor David Anderson said there is provincial funding available for the project.
However, deputy-mayor Judy Dirksen said assuming the application is a success, the question local residents are looking for is, “When will it be implemented?”
She asked if it would be six months or six years.
Treasurer Gord Duff said it would likely take a year to implement.
He also stressed that the project would still not provide service to all of Minto – and would be looking at providing service where it is most cost effective.
