COSTIN, Janice Ann

September 17, 1943 - September 30, 2024

It is with profound sadness that we share with you that Janice passed away peacefully, on Monday September 30 2024, at Groves Memorial Community Hospital, after a brief, but hard-fought battle, at the age of 81. Janice is survived by her beloved husband Bob, of almost 60 years, loving mother to Mike and Tracey Ryckman (Terry), cherished grandson Wes, sister-in-laws Marge and Penny, numerous nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her parents Bob and Ruth Kennedy, her mother and father-in-law James and Bertha, sister-in-law Colleen Owen (Doug), brothers-in-law Neil, Carl (Joan), Blair, Jack and Gerald, as well as nieces and nephews. Janice worked for almost 35 years at The Royal Bank in Fergus. She worked with some great ladies over those years that became good friends outside of work. Some of these ladies are: Sherry, Wendie, Kathy, Cathy, Betty, Joanne, Joyce, Marg (2), Carol, Linda and Anne. She had her girlfriends from school that all kept in touch, Dorethea and Valerie and Marg, as well as her 2nd cousin Jennifer. She had her neighbour friends as well: best friends Jim and Marilyn, Jayne and Evelyn. After Janice retired she canvassed for the Heart and Stroke Foundation for almost 10 years, something that she loved doing. Janice loved nothing more than spending time with her family. She was certain she hit the jackpot when Terry joined the Costin family, but ultimately it was being a grandma that she enjoyed the most. When Wes was little it was not unheard of for Janice and Wes to go on a walk and wind up at a park for a swing or a slide. She sat through countless hockey, soccer and ball hockey games. Always with a pocket full of loonies to pay out when a goal was had. Sometimes she would have to issue an IOU because she ran out of money. Dad took wonderful care of mom while she was at home, along with the superb nurses from Bayshore, particularly Samantha and Kathy, as well as kind PSW’s. For that we thank them profusely. She spent a couple of days at Groves, where she also received excellent care. Our hearts are broken, but we take comfort in knowing that she is resting in peace. We know that she will be watching over us, especially dad. We will miss her, oh how we will miss her. We will hold her close to our hearts and cherish the memories. If one wishes, donations are gratefully accepted to The Heart and Stroke Foundation, The Canadian Cancer Society or Groves Memorial Community Hospital CT Fund. Cremation has taken place. A private service will take place in the coming days. Arrangements entrusted to Graham Giddy Funeral Home.
