It is with great sadness that the family of Muriel Allan announces her passing on September 30th in her 95th year. She will be deeply missed by Douglas her husband of 72 years and her daughters Sandra (Chris), Shelley (Denis) and Kate (Mike). Beloved grandmother of Matthew, Michael (Mari Kate), Claire and Ben. She is preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Annie Clow, brother Raymond Clow and sisters Marion Wheeler and Donna Currie. Muriel was born and raised on her family farm in Eramosa Township. She attended Guelph Collegiate and graduated from the KW School of Nursing in 1952. She worked at Groves Memorial Hospital where she found great joy and fulfillment in her role as an obstetrics nurse. She was actively involved in the community as a member of the Elora in Knox Presbyterian Church, Bon Accord Club and Fergus Fall Fair. Her sense of humour was evident when she sponsored the Fair’s Worst / Best Failure culinary disaster. Muriel was funny, fiercely independent and a treasured friend to many. She always had a project on the go and left behind a legacy of quilts, hand-knits and gardens. She was never happier than hosting celebrations at her home surrounded by family. Muriel had a passion for travel, whether it was exploring backroads through her favourite spots or embarking on adventures abroad. The best part of the trip was always returning to the family farm where she happily spent the last years of her life. The family wishes to thank Dr. Williams, Dr. Brophy and the entire staff at Groves Memorial for their compassionate care. The family will receive friends at the Elora Knox Presbyterian Church on Friday, October 11, 2024 from 12 noon to the time of service at 2pm. A luncheon will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Aboyne Rural Hospice or Arthritis Society Canada – Grand River Region would be appreciated.
