A varied program of instrumental music will be offered to the always receptive audience for the Gallery Concerts, held in the intimate setting of the Exhibition Hall at the Wellington County Museum on Sunday November 16 at 2pm.
The atmosphere resembles the " musical salons" of old, with interaction between performers and audience, instrumental interpretations heard in a setting of fine acoustics, and opportunities to talk with the artists who donate their talents to this exciting, low- cost concert. Tickets are available at the door for a wonderful Sunday afternoon of music.
The programme for November 16 is: Sonata by Nino Rota for clarinet and piano, Trio by Gian Carlo Menotti for violin, clarinet, piano, and Nocturne, a Ukelele Serenade by Aaron Copeland. This half of the programme features performers Peter Bald, piano, Larry Moser, clarinet and Ron Dolynchuk, violin.
After a brief intermission, the concert resumes with the Royal City Saxaphone Quartet, offering classics, traditional folksongs,ragtime and jazz. Formed in 1991, this talented group of four enthusiastic musicians has appeared at festivals across Canada and the United States playing a range of instruments from the saxaphone family: Ernie Kalwa -Baritone and Bass Saxophones; Robert McWade – Tenor, Alto, and C-Melody Saxophones; Bradley Moggach – Soprano, Sopranino and Alto Saxophones; Larry Moser – Alto Saxophone. Their high spirits and energetic renditions promise a light hearted ending to a November afternoon. CDs will be available.
