Council approves signage grant

HARRISTON – Town council has approved a signage grant through the municipality’s Community Improvement Program (CIP) budget to improve a “longstanding” business in downtown Harriston.

Scoop-It is a business owned by Maggie Coutts that specializes in bulk ingredients, snacks, candy, frozen meat and more. The building is located at 30 Elora Street South.

The business is currently undergoing a façade restoration and has applied through the Signage Grant Program for a grant worth $433.

The quote provided to Coutts was for $979, making the project eligible for a signage grant.

The 2024 CIP was set at $50,000 and with this grant being the 12th application, the remaining budget is $36,526.

Council approved the grant unanimously on Oct. 1.
