It is with sadness we announce the passing of our beloved father, Pake and great-grandfather Wiebe Terpstra on Monday, September 24th, 2024 in his 98th year. Son of the late Pieter Terpstra and Anna (de Jong). Dear husband for 65 years of Margaret Kruis (predeceased). Father of Peter (Mary), John (Susan), Wendy Greenfield (Jerry), Edward (Judy), Anne Young (Cameron), Bruce (Sheryl), Andrew (Sylvia), Leonard (Monica-Lynn) and Marsha deVries (Luke). Beloved Pake of Bill (Angela), Jimi (Kyle), Shawna, Kendra (Jon), Christina (Faisal), Erin (Rob), Jamie (Dave), Brandon, Brianna, Kevin (Christina), Jason (Jessica), Scott (Breann), Shane (Terri), Matthew, Jake, Ryan (Holly), Sara (Kyle), Jodi (Martin), Michael (Esther), Jenevieve, Lillian, Analiese, Nathan, Joshua and Kaela. Great-grandfather of 17. Born in the Netherlands, Wiebe immigrated to Canada in 1951. Wiebe was the eldest in a family of 9 siblings. Survived by sisters Nelly Monkel and Mia Wahle. Predeceased by siblings Eelke, Jetty Kuipers, Tinie op de Weegh, Ferdie, Piet and Joe. Survived in the Netherlands by in-laws Wietske Terpstra, Marie Terpstra and Janke Terpstra. Beloved brother-in-law to Margaret’s family; John and Celia Slaman, Henry and Lois Kruis, Ed and Nellie Kruis, Sister Dora Kruis csj, Joanna and Joe (predeceased), Mina and John (predeceased) Klunder, John and Geraldine Kruis, Bill Kruis, Leo and Dora Kruis, Herman and Evelyn Kruis. Lovingly remembered by nephews, nieces and friends in Canda and the Netherlands. Wiebe worked at the Ford Assembly plant in Oakville for 30 years, before retiring in 1983. Wiebe’s family was the center of his life. His favorite times were when family could gather outdoors on the deck or in the shade of his trees. Wiebe was always aware of how the local farm crops were growing. He enjoyed playing cards almost every evening before Margaret lost that ability. Wiebe kept a large vegetable garden until his last few years. He was a member of St. Boniface parish in Maryhill. Resting at the Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Dublin Chapel, 252 Dublin St N., Guelph, where the family received their friends on Thursday September 26, 2024 from 4-7pm. A Funeral Mass was held at St. Boniface Church, Maryhill on Friday, September 27, 2024 at 10am. Interment in St. Boniface Cemetery, Maryhill. The family wishes to thank Dr. Hood, Dr. Stickney the Physicians, Nurses, and Care Workers at Wellington Terrace and Groves Memorial Hospital, Fergus who provided such professional and compassionate care in Wiebe’s last weeks.
