GUELPH – Ten students from Puslinch, Guelph/Eramosa and Centre Wellington will receive $1,000 from the county to help with school expenses this year.
Following a closed meeting session at its Sept. 26 meeting, county council announced the recipients of its educational scholarships and bursaries, 10 of which are awarded annually based on academic achievement, community involvement or financial need.
The following students were each awarded $1,000:
- Abby Gerrard of Puslinch;
- Molly Hannay, Guelph/Eramosa;
- Thomas Ripley, Guelph/Eramosa;
- Ashley Taylor, Guelph/Eramosa;
- Mark Knierim, Guelph/Eramosa;
- Asa Leistra, Guelph/Eramosa;
- Emily Hattle-Lefneskie, Centre Wellington;
- Hannah Boyce, Centre Wellington;
- Avaline Booth, Centre Wellington; and
- Liam Van Huisseling, Centre Wellington
To be eligible for the county’s scholarship program, students must be residents of the county entering their first year of an accredited college or university.
They must also graduate high school with an overall average of at least 75 percent, and clearly demonstrate financial need.
