ERIN – The East Wellington Family Health Team has released its calendar of free workshops for the month of October.
Here’s what’s coming up:
• Understanding Pre-Diabetes – Oct. 8 from 5 to 6pm
This online workshop will help people understand risk factors, learn why pre-diabetes is a concern, and get tips on healthy eating and activity.
• How to Avoid Frailty – Oct. 16 from 6:30 to 7:30pm
This in-person event at the Erin clinic, 6 Thompson Cres., will provide information on preventative care for people at risk of frailty. Enrolment is limited, and attendees must register.
• The Highs and Lows of Diabetes – Oct. 21 from 12:30 to 1:30pm
Offered both online and in-person at the Erin clinic, this workshop is for those interested in learning management skills for type 2 diabetes. Participants must pre-register.
• Heart Health – Oct. 22 from 12 to 1pm
This free online workshop is for anyone interested in learning more about heart-healthy eating and lifestyle strategies to prevent and manage conditions like high cholesterol and high blood pressure. Pre-registration is required.
• Alzheimer Care Partner Support Group – Oct. 23 from 1:30 to 3pm
This group, for family and friends of people living with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, meets at the Erin clinic via Telemedicine and at other community sites in Mount Forest, Ayr, St. Jacobs, and Fergus. Call the Alzheimer Society of Waterloo Wellington at 519-742-1422, ext. 2090 to register.
• Walk-Fit Class – Nov. 1 from 9:30 to 10:45am
This volunteer-led group meets at the Erin Indoor Recreation Centre on Main Street for an indoor warm up, walk, and cool down. Registration is required for your first session.
People will need a computer, tablet or smart phone to access virtual workshops, but a camera is not needed. An email address is required for registration.
