FERGUS – Before the site is completely levelled, Groves Hospital Foundation is offering a chance to pick up a piece of history.
The hospital foundation is selling bricks from the old hospital on Sept. 28 from 11am to 2pm.
Staff and volunteers from Groves Hospital Foundation will be on the site of the old hospital, at the corner of Gowrie and Queen Street (old back parking lot).
They will be set up with bricks for visitors to choose from for a $20 donation.
The event is intended “to mark the legacy of the old Groves Memorial Community Hospital building, celebrate the history of our hospital and town, collect a keepsake if you wish, and hopefully raise some funds for the ongoing needs of GMCH,” officials stated in an email.
Payment is by donation; $20 is the suggested amount.
The event will be rain or shine. Donations can be made by cash or cheque, with an option of a QR code for online giving.
Funds raised will support the purchase of equipment and technological tools needed at Groves this year.
