ERIN – Cole Upton has been playing soccer with H.E.A.D.S. (Hillsburgh Erin and District Soccer) since the age of three. This summer, he participated in a week-long soccer camp hosted by Spain’s prestigious Real Madrid football club in Ontario. Cole’s years of soccer experience with coaches Jimi Hansen, Jon Northup and H.E.A.D.S. president (and dad) Bayne Upton helped him to qualify for a Spring training camp in Spain next year. His family started a GoFundMe page to help pay for the trip. Naydo’s Potatoes owner Danae Wallace-Dunn generously helped out with her own fundraiser last Friday at Victoria Park, with proceeds going to the cause. During the fundraiser on Sept. 13, Cole said: “I’m super excited and glad for this opportunity.” The Fry-Day fundraiser hosted by Wallace-Dunn raised over $1,800 towards Upton’s travels and tuition costs for the soccer training in Spain. Those interested in helping Cole can donate through his GoFundMe page, gofund.me/742c80dc.
