Colleen Clack announced the line-up of performers for the River Run Centre’s newest series recently.
The Borealis Guelph Music Series begins in October. It features five Friday night performances in the Co-operators Hall, each headlined by a different professional musician from the city, which has one of the highest number of singer-songwriters per capita in Canada.
General Manager Clack said, “My goal was to develop a series to showcase our community’s most accomplished professional musicians, right here at home – within the outstanding acoustics of the intimate Co-operators Hall.”
Leading off on Oct. 24 is James Gordon, known to many North Americans as the founder of Canada’s premier folk group Tamarack, who has become well-known as a solo artist for his original songs about Canada’s identity and heritage.
On Nov. 21, Kate Schutt, a guitarist, producer, and singer-songwriter performs.
Juno award winning Stephen Fearing will be the feature performer on Jan. 30. For 20 years his catalogue of songs has kept him at the forefront of the roots music scene. Fearing has also enjoyed success as one of the founding members of the highly acclaimed Canadian roots rock super trio, Blackie & The Rodeo Kings.
Katherine Wheatley takes the stage on April 3. Wheatley has been captivating audiences at festivals and concerts across Canada, the US and Europe since the release of her first CD, Straight Line.
Last in the series is percussionist Jesse Stewart on May 22. Stewart is a composer, percussionist, visual artist, instrument builder and writer. He works primarily in jazz, new music, and free improvisation.

Tickets for the season, including the Borealis Guelph Music Series, are on sale now through the River Run Centre box office. Single tickets range from $23 to $25, and the series of five performances can be purchased for as low as $100. As part of the eyeGO program, high school students may purchase tickets at the box office for $5 each.
