Call for fall in Elora Gorge turns out to be minor

ELORA – Centre Wellington Fire and Rescue responded to a fall at the Elora Gorge on Sept. 1, but by the time firefighters arrived on scene, the injured person had managed to get to the top of the gorge with assistance from folks in the vicinity.

“Nobody had fallen into the Gorge,” deputy chief Jonathan Karn told the Advertiser.

“A person had fallen on the rocks at the riverside and sustained some injuries.

“They managed to get up the stairs at Victoria Park with assistance and were transported to Groves (hospital) by ambulance.”

Both Elora and Fergus stations automatically respond to rescue calls in the gorge but Fergus was cancelled once the extent of the incident was known.

Elora firefighters remained on scene until the patient was handed over to paramedics.
