GRAND VALLEY – The Grand Valley Agricultural Society is set to hold the 152nd Fall Fair from Sept. 20 to 22.
The fall fair theme this year is “Cultural Growth Meets Country Fun.”
With that theme in mind, they have partnered with Dufferin County Cultural Resource Circle, an Indigenous-led community organization committed to creating a safe place for the restoration and revival of traditional Indigenous culture in the Dufferin County area.
The fair starts off with a food truck Friday event, opening the fair at 6pm on Friday night with Oh Canada, a welcoming speech by Mayor Steve Solomon and an opening prayer by an Indigenous Elder.
There are nine food trucks offering various foods from Korean to Carribbean to funnel cakes.
The beer tent will be open and live music by Pellenbruck Acoustica will entertain guests from 6 to 10pm.
The Grand Valley Library is hosting a tween dance upstairs in the arena from 7 to 9pm.
The gates open at 10am on Saturday with many vendors inside and out.
Homecraft exhibits, face painting, a Shania Twain tribute at 2pm, Chippewa Travellers and Gerry “The Big Bear” Barrett performing his Elvis tribute at 7pm, located at the main stage in the arena will all take place on Saturday.
For country fun outside, there’s an agricultural farming trailer, li’l farming fun, beef, dairy and sheep shows, exotic animals, RV gaming trailer, escape rooms and a tractor pull starting at 4pm with registration starting at 2pm.
This year the fair has an antique tractor category.
On Sunday the gates open at 10am and since Sunday is Family Day, family games are set to begin at 11:30am.
The emergency response vehicles will be available for all to see and the Dairy Producers will be in attendance with an array of farm animals.
Barrett will be doing his Comedy Schtick at 1:30pm on the main stage.
All the vendors and exhibits will be available as well as all outdoor exhibits from Saturday.
The truck pull starts at 11am with registration starting at 9am.
Officials encourage guests to register as early as possible as the truck pull is “always a very popular event.”
Admission to the fair is $10 before 4pm; $15 after 4pm; $5 for ages five to 13; and kids under five are free. A family bundle of two adults and two children will be available for $25 before 4pm and $35 after 4pm.
