The agricultural displays at the end of people’s driveways remind everyone that the Erin Fall Fair is now only days away from opening.
The Thanksgiving tradition returns once again and the directors are anxiously completing preparations for the 158th edition of the Erin Fall Fair.
It begins on Thursday evening with amusement rides from Robertson’s Amusements.
On Thursday night, the rides are being offered for a toonie. Early on Friday morning exhibitors bring in their displays.
This year’s theme is Erin’s Horn of Plenty. The opening ceremonies will take place at 7pm. Friday evening the fair will also be having its Ambassador competition in the Exhibits hall and the ever-popular truck pull on the track.
Events start early Saturday morning with the Hunter and Jumper Show, the Goat Show and the Gaited Horse Show. In the exhibits hall there is a Baby Show featuring children’s entertainer The Stylamanders.
Outside the hall is the Gentle Ben’s Pet Show.
On the track visitors will find the Horse Draw.
The show barn will feature the Jersey and 4-H Dairy Show. On Saturday evening there will be entertainment in the exhibits hall featuring Ballagh Bunch, and the Tractor Pull on the track.
To start things off on Sunday people will find the Sheep Show, Welsh and Open Pony Shows, and Heavy Horse Show.
The Belgian Mounted Brigade will entertain, and the Heavy Horses will be on the track.
Back in the show barn there is a Beef Show.
The kids will enjoy the Pedal Pull and the Farmers Olympics. In the evening the fair will have its annual Talent Show.
Outside to top things off the fair offers a Demolition Derby. New this year is a fireworks display following the Demolition Derby.
Thanksgiving Monday is the final day of the fair, featuring the 4-H Beef Show, the Gymkhana Show, and the Rabbit, Cavy, and Poultry Shows. Also, for the third year the fair will be having its Chili Cookoff contest.
The Monday concert will be a showcase of entertainment with performances by The Murray Williams Band, the Essentials, the winners of Sunday night’s talent show, and children’s entertainers Splash ‘n Boots.
Make sure to stop by the Café for the famous Apple Dumplings and Pies made on site by homecraft volunteers.
