CENTRE WELLINGTON – A regency-style Starlight Ball will be making its way to Wellington County later this month.
Hosted by the Wellington County Museum and Archives, the ball is set for Sept. 27 from 7 to 10pm and will be an ages 19-plus event.
“We thought it would be fun to try to recreate some of the historical dances and invite people out for a recreation of a ball,” museum program supervisor Emily Peters told the Advertiser.
She is encouraging those attending to dress up and have fun with recreating regency styled outfits for the ball.
The event is tied to the “Let’s Party” exhibit in the museum, which highlights celebrations through the years and is inspired by historic balls and dances of a bygone era, said Peters.
“Items on display as part of the exhibit, such as the historic dance cards and formal gowns in our collection, were so fun and interesting to see, and we are looking forward to hosting this historic event as the exhibit comes to a close,” Peters added.
At the start of the evening guests will receive a dance card in “true regency style,” stated officials.
The ball will be located in the Exhibit Hall of the museum and two ticket options are available on the museum’s website: wellington.ca/starlightballonlineregistration.
Those interested can buy a $40 drinking ticket which includes a signature cocktail or a $30 non-drinking ticket.
Non-alcoholic beverages will be available and hors d’oeuvres are set to be given out to guests during the evening as well.
The night will follow with expert instructors from the Fergus-Elora Academy of Dance leading guests in three historical dances: the waltz, foxtrot and tango.
“We’re really excited to see what the response will be,” said Peters.
Tickets are limited and ready for purchasing on the museum’s website.
