Al Dobson explains purpose of purchasing land between lots

It looks like Minto council is ready to transfer a former road allowance in Palmerston to Mike Dobson to allow better maintenance of the property.

On behalf of Mike Dobson, Al Dobson explained the reasons to purchase the Inkerman Street road allowance between 187 and 205 Henry Lane.

Council had deferred the matter from a previous meeting to hear the proponent’s side of the issue.

Al Dobson said the intent is to keep the road allowance passable and open for use for their business.

But since it remained a road allowance only, they believed they could do a better job maintaining the lot between two properties they already own.

Mayor David Anderson said the property would continue to be used as an access road.

He said a couple of neighbours were also at the meeting, primarily concerned about work currently happening on the property.

When asked about the possibility of the property being rezoned, councillor Rick Hembly said he honestly did not see potential for anything other than residential.

While Wilson pointed out there are a limited number of current uses for the property – all of which are residential. However, the property contains an easement for services – therefore limiting how the site could be developed.
