WELLINGTON COUNTY – The Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) is requesting feedback on its draft conservation areas strategy.
The draft, which was approved at an Aug. 23 general membership meeting, can be found at grandriver.ca/conservationareasstrategy.
People are encouraged to complete an online survey and/or attend one of two virtual Public Information Centres (PIC) on Sept. 10 at 9am and Sept. 24 at 6:30pm.
The deadline for survey responses is Oct. 4.
The Conservation Authorities Act and Ontario Regulation 686/21 requires all conservation authorities to prepare a conservation areas strategy.
The goal is to provide an integrated, high-level framework that helps guide and inform future decision-making on all GRCA-owned and controlled lands.
The strategy covers conservation areas, conservation lands, controlled/limited access lands and lands used for water management.
In total, the GRCA owns about 19,900 hectares of land within the watershed.
