New leader at helm for EWFHT

ROCKWOOD – The East Wellington Family Health Team (EWFHT) is pleased to announce a leadership change as of Aug. 19.

Alicia Atkinson has assumed the role of executive director, succeeding Kim Bell, who is retiring after six and a half years in the position.

Atkinson brings a wealth of experience in healthcare to her new position, officials say.

A registered nurse with a master’s degree in leadership from the University of Guelph, she has been an integral part of the Guelph health care community for over a decade.

She previously held roles with the Guelph Family Health Team, University of Guelph mass vaccination clinic, and Guelph General Hospital.

“We are thrilled to welcome Alicia to the EWFHT family,” said Terri-Lynn Hanson, outgoing president of the board.

“Her proven leadership abilities and commitment to patient care make her an ideal fit for this role.

“We are confident that her vision will guide the EWFHT into an exciting new chapter.”

The EWFHT extends its sincere gratitude to Kim Bell for her “invaluable contributions” to the organization during her tenure over the past 15 and a half years, officials said. Bell’s dedication and expertise have been instrumental in the health team’s success, they added.

As the EWFHT transitions under new leadership, the organization remains committed to providing exceptional primary care services to the community, officials said.
