FERGUS – Carrie Anne Kierstead and her mother Gloria Kierstead are planning another event to raise money for the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
This will be the fourth year the duo has held the Hair with Care fall bazaar fundraiser, in memory of Carrie Anne’s father and Gloria’s husband, who died from a heart attack eight years ago.
In a phone interview, Gloria said she feels like her husband is looking down on her from above and is sending his blessings.
“It’s all coming together,” Gloria said. “I know he would be proud.”
The event takes place on Sept. 8, from noon to 4pm at Carrie Anne’s salon Hair with Care, at 465 St. Patrick St. in Fergus.
Ten dollars buys 15 raffle tickets to be placed by prizes available to win through a draw.
Prizes have been donated by numerous local businesses and include tickets to Kitchener Rangers and Guelph Storm games.
There will also be free coffee, supplied by Tim Hortons, vendors selling their wares, live music, and barbecued hot dogs available for purchase.
Gloria said they raised $4,100 last year and hope to do as well or better.
They are hoping for sunshine, but the event goes on rain or shine, Gloria added.
