The Sensational Elora Soup-Off on Oct. 13 from 1 to 4pm will be the grand finale of Sensational Elora: A Festival of the Senses and the culmination of the Empty Bowls Project.
The focus of the Soup-Off is to raise funds for the Centre Wellington Food Bank. In addition to aiding the cause, the event gives cooks, professional and amateur of all ages, an opportunity to showcase their flair for soupmaking.
During this fun-filled day, the super soupers will also be competing for the title of Most Sensational Souper voted on by the tasting public. Chefs and cooks must register by Oct. 1 in order to participate in the competition.
Chefs and cooks are encouraged to use fresh, locally-grown ingredients, and provide a minimum of 20 quarts of their signature soup.
Ticket holders in attendance can then enjoy samples of each competitor’s creation and mark their ballot for the best soup. Awards will be given in a number of categories including best professional, best amateur, and best youth (under 18).
Bissell Park will be the place to be on Thanksgiving Monday.
The final day of Sensational Elora also includes: a Clay and Glass show (10am to 4pm), the Fergus Elora Bed and Breakfast Association bed race (2pm), music, and other entertainment.
Organizers are billing it as “a great day filled with family entertainment for local residents and visitors alike.”
