CAMBRIDGE – Opry Gold is a toe-tappin’, roof-raisin’ salute to the greatest music in the history of country music.
Canadian songbird Leisa Way and her Canadian cast of award-winning musicians are guaranteed to give audiences a show to remember for Drayton Entertainment’s summer concert series.
Under the musical direction of Bruce Ley, Opry Gold raises the roof, celebrating revered country legends and the contemporary artists who have topped the charts, and followed in their footsteps.
Those interested can see Opry Gold with Leisa Way and the Wayward Wind Band live at the Hamilton Family Theatre in Cambridge on Aug. 15 at 2pm and 7:30pm.
Way spent six years in the Maritimes starring as “Anne” in Anne of Green Gables at the Charlottetown Festival, and spent the next 25 years touring the country in musicals and plays.
With Opry Gold, she returns to her ‘country’ roots.
As a child, Leisa remembers tuning in to shows like The Tommy Hunter Show and Ronnie Prophet Show – both TV shows that her musical arranger and pianist, Bruce Ley, happened to be the piano player on.
Way’s multi-talented band includes Ley, along with vocalist/guitarist Brant Garratt, bassist-singer Mark Dunn, Don Reid on drums, and recent Humber College grads Jack Gaughan and Alex George, exciting rising talents on the music scene.
The Grand Ole Opry began as a simple radio broadcast in 1925, and is now a live entertainment phenomenon.
Leisa Way’s Opry Gold delivers audiences some of the best of classic and new wave country, with a heapin’ of good-natured fun.
Opry Gold is “one of a kind” entertainment experience for the whole family.
Opry Gold plays at the Hamilton Family Theatre on Thursday, August 15th at 2:00pm and 7:30pm.
