Australian comedian Joe Avati to perform at River Run this fall

GUELPH – Award-winning comedian Joe Avati is coming to Guelph, and there’s still time to get tickets.

Avati, whose new show took the 2024 Best Australian Comedy Act award, will be at the River Run Centre on Oct. 2 to share his insights on how times have changed since he grew up as a teenager in the 1980s.

According to the description on the River Run’s website, Avati is an Australian-born comedian with Italian heritage “renowned for his inimitable style.”

He has a knack for “treading the very fine line saying what everyone is thinking but no one dares to say whilst not resorting to the use of profanities or vulgar shock tactic routines,” it says.

In his current show, When I Was Your Age, Avati compares generational differences of today’s kids with his own childhood, looking at the complexities of modern-day parenting versus the strict upbringing of yesteryear.

“Threaded throughout all of this he tackles the minefield of comedians and cancel culture, the woke brigade and why people are over political correctness,” the description reads. “His observations are not only deadly accurate but extremely relatable to all ages.”
