WELLINGTON COUNTY – Farmer Luke Hartung shared the wisdom of his experience with members of the West Luther Field Crops 4-H Club when he hosted the club’s most recent meeting at his property, Harwill Farms, on July 16. Hartung spoke to the youth about the vegetables grown in his market garden, and described how a more intensely cropped smaller area works better for him than a larger area with less intense planting. The youth got to check out the farm’s five-acre pumpkin field, and learned about Hartung’s crop rotations and how he fits pumpkins into the rotation. They also got a look at his soybeans, corn and wheat crops.
